Instructions

How to Make Irresistible Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

  • Rinse and devein the shrimp, then chop the bell peppers and onion. Measure out the heavy cream and freshly grated Parmesan cheese to have everything ready for a smooth cooking process.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine or penne and cook until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Before draining, reserve a cup of pasta water for later.
  • In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers, sautéing them until they are tender and slightly golden, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and allow it to cook for a minute until fragrant. Then, add the shrimp to the skillet, cooking until they turn pink and opaque, about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Add the Cajun seasoning and a pinch of salt, mixing well as the sauce simmers to develop a velvety consistency, roughly 4-5 minutes.
  • Toss the cooked pasta with the creamy sauce, using reserved pasta water as needed to achieve a luxuriously creamy texture. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, and serve hot with extra cheese on top if desired.

Notes

For an added burst of flavor, garnish with fresh parsley or basil before serving.
