  • 2 tablespoons Milk Almond milk or non-dairy options can be used.

Instructions

Making the Buns

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let it froth for 5-10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix flour and salt, then add melted butter and eggs to create a soft dough.
  • On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover it with a cloth. Let it rise until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  • In a small bowl, combine cocoa powder with sugar. Chop the salted pistachios to add to your filling.
  • Roll your dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle. Spread the cocoa mixture evenly across the dough.
  • Sprinkle with chopped pistachios, then roll it tightly from one end to the other.
  • Cut the rolled dough into pieces and shape them into buns.
  • Place your shaped buns on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the buns for 25-30 minutes.
  • Allow them to cool briefly before drizzling with icing, if desired.

Notes

Garnish with extra chopped pistachios before serving for added crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
